Step 1: Check if your Jewelry is Real Gold or Just Gold-Colored Stainless Steel

The first step in restoring your stainless steel jewelry is to determine whether it is real gold or just gold-colored stainless steel. If it isn’t real gold, then there’s no need to worry about trying to remove the plating! Step 2: Remove the Gold Plating from Your Jewelry

If your jewelry has genuine gold plating, you will need to remove it before restoring it. This can be done using either a gold plating removal solution or mechanical agitation (such as sandpaper).
